On 24 November 2024, the Ministry of Public Security closed the public consultation on the Draft Law on Personal Data Protection. The draft document delineates the structure, powers, and responsibilities of the data protection authorities. Chapter VI outlines the responsibilities of the various entities tasked with ensuring the protection of personal data. The Ministry of Public Security is responsible for the unified state oversight of data protection, issuing guidelines, handling complaints, and promoting international cooperation. A personal data protection force, comprising specialised units, appointed personnel and mobilised organisations, would be established with the Ministry of Public Security responsible for developing programmes and ensuring the necessary resources and awareness for effective data protection. A number of ministries, including the Ministries of Information and Communications, National Defense, and Science and Technology, are responsible for the coordination, inspection, and establishment of data protection standards.
