United Arab Emirates: Issued statement on United States and United Arab Emirates cooperation on Artificial Intelligence

On 23 September 2024, the United States (US) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a statement on their commitment to cooperate on artificial intelligence (AI), emphasising a shared vision of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI. Further, the statement outlines plans to develop a government-to-government memorandum of understanding to deepen collaboration on AI between the countries. The cooperation aims to focus on advancing safe AI practices, aligning regulatory frameworks, promoting ethical AI research, enhancing cybersecurity, fostering talent development, and supporting clean energy for AI. In addition, they aim to leverage AI for sustainable development, particularly in developing countries, and strengthen bilateral ties across industries.
