Announced OECD-UN enhanced collaboration on Artificial Intelligence

On 22 September 2024, the OECD and UN have announced their enhanced collaboration on global Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, as revealed during a meeting at the UN's Summit of the Future in New York. Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen, OECD Deputy Secretary-General, and Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Under-Secretary-General and Technology Envoy, highlighted the need for cohesive, real-time policy responses to the rapid development and impact of AI. This partnership aims to combine the OECD's technical expertise and AI policy work with the UN's global reach to promote science-based AI risk and opportunity assessments. The collaboration will involve stakeholders from academia and science and take the form of regular science and evidence-based assessments on AI opportunity and risks.
