Introduced Artificial Intelligence Development and Regulation Act of the Philippines (HB7396) including business registration requirement

On 1 March 2023, the Artificial Intelligence Development and Regulation Act of the Philippines (HB7396) was introduced into the Philippine House of Representatives including business registration requirement. The Act aims at safely developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Philippines while ensuring alignment with ethical principles, human rights and public interest. The Act would mandate the AI Development Authority (AIDA) with establishing licensing and certification requirements for AI developers and deployers. Specifically, they would be required to register with the AIDA and comply with the issued guidelines and regulations. The Act would establish penalties for the failure to register or comply with guidelines and regulations. The Act would enter into force fifteen days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
