Description

Introduced sexually explicit digital images Act (SB 981)

On 29 January 2024, the sexually explicit digital images Act (SB 981) was introduced to the Senate. The Bill aims to address law enforcement authority in cases of retail theft. Currently, law enforcement officers can only arrest individuals for crimes they have witnessed or have probable cause to believe were committed. The Bill proposes legislation that would allow officers to arrest individuals suspected of retail theft, even if the crime was not directly observed by the officer.
