On 11 October 2024, the Saudi Data & AI Authority closes its public consultation on the Deepfakes Guidelines. The Guidelines address the implications of deepfake technologies and aim to mitigate their associated risks. The Guidelines provide an overview over of different kinds of malicious deepfakes, including imposter scams, non-consensual manipulation, and disinformation and propaganda. Further, the Guidelines contain guidance for technology developers, content creators, regulators, and consumers, focusing on aspects like privacy, transparency, bias, and accountability. Further, the Guidelines also discuss non-malicious deepfakes. Finally, the Guidelines contain examples, a risk assessment framework, and a sample consent form.
