Malaysia: Issued KKD statement on monitoring and blocking the spread of any video on deviant teachings

On 27 May 2024, the Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) issued a statement on monitoring and blocking videos promoting deviant teachings, including those from neighbouring countries, on social media. The statement confirmed that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will collaborate with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department and state religious councils to curb the spread of such content. The statement also confirmed that KKD will address scams, frauds, and the sale of restricted items like drugs on social platforms.
