On 17 September 2024, Colombia and China entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector. Signed at the Colombian ICT Ministry's facilities, this agreement, involving the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, focuses on connectivity, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy, among other areas. According to the signing parties, the MOU aims to facilitate the exchange of good practices, new technologies, and to support digital transformation efforts across various sectors including industry, education, and health. The agreement also builds on existing Chinese investments in Colombian infrastructure and the development of 4G networks by Chinese companies.
