On 16 September 2024, high-level officials from the European Union and the United States met to review the progress of the EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC) since their last meeting in April 2024. The meeting was co-chaired by Sabine Weyand and Roberto Viola for the EU, and Jose Fernandez, Marisa Lago, and Cara Morrow for the US. In particular, the discussions focused on ongoing collaboration in areas like artificial intelligence, secure digital infrastructure, and next-generation networks. The officials emphasised the importance of advancing efforts on emerging technology standards, including digital identity, and continuing cooperation on secure supply chains for critical sectors such as solar and semiconductors. Furthermore, the meeting underscored the significance of promoting sustainable and secure trade and investment between the parties, exploring new cooperation opportunities under the Transatlantic Initiative on Sustainable Trade (TIST), and sharing best practices on investment screening.
