On 10 September 2024, the Guidelines for the Implementation of Standard Contracts for Cross-Border Flow of Personal Information in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Mainland, Macao) were issued and implemented by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and the Macau SAR Government to promote safe and orderly data transfer within the region. The Guidelines outline the roles and responsibilities of data handlers and recipients who use standard contracts, including obtaining consent, conducting an impact assessment, proper registration with relevant authorities, and incident reporting. The Standard Contract is supplied in the Annex to the Guidelines.
