Implemented CAI Provisions on the Portability of Personal Information

On 22 September 2024, the Provisions on the Portability of Personal Information of the Quebec Commission on Access to Information (CAI) entered into force. The Provisions outline obligations for companies regarding the right to portability of data subjects. The right to portability allows any person to request and obtain their computerized personal information, in a structured and commonly used technological format. Furthermore, the Provisions outline the conditions for data portability, including that the data be computerized and that the data has been directly or indirectly from the data subject.
