Issued ruling in CFTC Investigation into Uniswap Labs regarding Illegal Digital Asset Derivatives Trading

On 4 September 2024, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that it was settling charges in an investigation into Uniswap Labs regarding its illegal offering of leveraged retail commodity transactions in digital assets through a decentralised digital asset trading protocol. The violation consisted of the fact that Uniswap Labs failed to register with or be designated by the CFTC. Under the terms of the settlement, Uniswap Labs must pay a USD 175'000 civil penalty and cease and desist from further violations.
