Announced CMA investigation into Ticketmaster over Oasis concert sales

On 5 September 2024, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched an investigation into Ticketmaster regarding the sale of Oasis tickets for the band’s reunion tour, including how the “dynamic pricing” system was used. In particular, the CMA is assessing whether the sale of Oasis tickets by Ticketmaster breached consumer protection by investigating if customers received clear and timely information explaining that the price of the tickets could change depending on demand, and how this would operate. Furthermore, the CMA is investigating if customers were pressured to buy tickets within a short period of time at a higher price.
