On 26 June 2024, the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority adopted the Investment Token (Miscellaneous Amendments) Rules 2024, which introduce changes across several regulatory frameworks within the Qatar Financial Centre. Amendments include requiring token service providers (TSPs) to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) rules, similar to Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs), and imposing equivalent fee structures. The amendments also prohibit firms from falsely or misleadingly advertising themselves as carrying out activities involving investment tokens. The amendments commence on 1 September 2024.
