Japan: Adopted Beyond 5G Promotion Strategy 2.0

On 30 August 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) released the Beyond 5G Promotion Strategy 2.0. The Strategy aims to support both the development and implementation of next-generation information and communication infrastructure and strengthening international competitiveness, in view of new technological changes, such as the emergence of AI. The Strategy includes focusing on the development of All-Photonics Network (APN), Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN), and Radio Access Network (RAN) as core infrastructural technologies, for example by supporting the development of standards.
