United States of America: Issued Warning regarding Investment Scams using AI-Manipulated Videos

On 29 August 2024, the New York Attorney General issued a Warning regarding investment scams using AI-Manipulated Videos. The warning concerns scams which use AI-manipulated videos to impersonate celebrities and business leaders to court investment from potential victims. The Attorney General proposes a number of measures for members of the public, including looking out for certain red flags, conducting due diligence, and not providing personal and financial information online. Further, members of the public are encouraged to report scams they encounter.
