Introduced Act Prohibiting Online Publication and Promotion of Gambling Related Content Providing Penalties Therefor and for Other Purposes (SB No. 2602)

On 12 March 2024, the Act Prohibiting Online Publication and Promotion of Gambling-Related Content Providing Penalties Therefor and for Other Purposes (SB No. 2602) was introduced in the Senate of the Philippines. The Act would prohibit natural and juridical persons from distributing or advertising gambling-related content online. In the event of a violation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be authorised to issue a disabling order to restrict or block access to such content. Additionally, the Act would require service providers to comply with disabling orders within 48 hours, implementing effective technical measures to disable or prevent access to pages containing the prohibited content. The Act also specifies the penalties to be imposed in cases of non-compliance.
