Announced formal launch of EU-China Cross-Border Data Flow Communication Mechanism

On 27 August 2024, the EU and China announced the beginning of discussions to formally launch the EU-China Cross-Border Data Flow Communication Mechanism. The Mechanism aims to find practical solutions for European companies facing problems in relation to cross-border flows of non-personal data, both in facilitating such data flows and ensuring their compliance with Chinese laws. The mechanism is a deliverable of previous dialogues between the EU and China, and was also addressed in the 24th EU-China Summit.
