Turkiye: Adopted Public Announcement on Personal Data Processing Activities by Research Companies Random Dial Interview Method for Statistical Research

On 26 August 2024, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) published a Public Announcement on Personal Data Processing Activities by Research Companies Random Dial Interview Method for Statistical Research. In the Announcement, in response to a number of complaints by individuals about being called by research companies despite not sharing their phone numbers, the KVKK clarifies the scope of an exception to the Personal Data Protection Law's requirements in the case of anonymised research. The Announcement clarifies the scope of the exception, and the proper methods for anonymisation and obtaining consent.
