Malaysia: Closed consultation on data portability regulation

On 6 September 2024, the Malaysian Department of Personal Data Protection closed its public consultation on Paper No. 3/2024 in relation to amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act. In particular, the consultation focuses in the introduction of new rights for data subjects to request that their personal data be transferred from one data controller to another. The results of the consultation will be used to prepare the final draft of regulations and guidelines to implement the Amendment to the Malaysia Personal Data Protection Act.
