Announced ACM investigation into the sale of fake online reviews

On 22 August 2024, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) announced it was opening an investigation into the sale of fake online reviews. The investigation seeks to tackle online deception by sellers of fake reviews and websites using these reviews. The ACM can impose fines of up to EUR 900,000 on parties using this practice to mislead consumers online.
