Introduced Law Amending the Criminal Code Regarding the Use of Artificial Intelligence to Create or Manipulate Audiovisual Content

On 29 July 2024, the Law Amending the Criminal Code Regarding the Use of Artificial Intelligence to Create or Manipulate Audiovisual Content (3955-D-2024) was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Law would amend the Argentine criminal code to criminalise the use of artificial intelligence without consent to create or modify audiovisual content which potentially or actually harms a person's personal and professional activities, public reputation, or creates fictitious scenarios in relation to elections. Similarly, the Law would criminalise the creation of intimate sexual content involving a person without their consent, while also prohibiting the concealment of AI watermarks.
