On 1 August 2024, a bill proposing a Legal Framework for Activities Disseminated by Influencers through the Use of Digital Platforms, Social Networks or Media (4060-D-2024) was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The bill seeks to regulate the content dissemination practices of influencers on social media platforms. It would subject influencers to a range of obligations in relation to their content and advertising practices on social media, including requirements of legality and truthfulness. Further, advertisements would have to be identifiable and both direct and indirect advertisements for certain products, such as tobacco, alcohol, and gambling, would be prohibited.
