Announced MyCC market review to assess the impact of digital economy on the quality of Malaysian citizens

On 16 August 2024, the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) launched a market review initiative to study the digital economy ecosystem and research the impact of the digital economy on the cost of living of Malaysian citizens. The review will encompass sectors such as mobile payment systems, e-commerce platforms, and online digital advertising services. It will explore the integration of payment systems, the functioning of large B2C marketplaces, and various online advertising methods, while also addressing concerns related to data protection, including switching costs, data misuse, and control. MyCC will conduct focus group discussion sessions throughout August 2024, on various digital economy topics, engaging stakeholders from various industries, government agencies, and academia.
