Issued ASIC ruling following investigation into investment scam websites

On 19 August 2024, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) announced the takedown of over 7'300 phishing and investment scam websites in order to protect consumers from financial fraud. The action, part of the government's Fighting Scams initiative, blocks fake investment platforms, phishing scams, and cryptocurrency investment frauds. Since July 2023, ASIC has coordinated the removal of more than 5’530 fake investment platform scams, 1’065 phishing scam hyperlinks, and 615 cryptocurrency investment scams.
