Don't Push My Buttons Act introduced in Senate

Senate Bill S.2335, the Don't Push My Buttons Act, is introduced in the U.S. Senate on 13 July 2021. The Bill amends section 230(c) of the Communications Act 1934, which provides internet website operators or platform users with immunity from civil liability in regards to restricting access to objectionable content. The proposed amendment exempts providers from this immunity if they collect data concerning the habits or beliefs of users, and if providers use an automated function to provide customized content to users based on the data collected unless such users knowingly elect to use such a function or receive such content.
