Announced Ministry of Communication and Information sanctions against payment service providers for facilitating online gambling transactions

On 10 August 2024, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) announced that it would impose sanctions, including takedowns and deregistration for 21 Payment Service Providers (PJP) associated with online gambling. In particular, Kominfo has issued warning letters to these providers, instructing them to ensure their services are not used for illegal gambling transactions. Kominfo determined that these payment systems were used for gambling activities and has requested a thorough internal audit from the providers. If the audit results are not submitted within seven working days, the providers will face administrative sanctions.
