Roskomnadzor, the Russian federal media regulator, has announced that it will take measures to fine Google for violation of rules concerning the restriction of access to materials containing prohibited information (part 5 of Art.13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offences) which will be submitted to a court. The agency alleges that Youtube, which is owned by Google, has repeatedly failed to comply with requirements to remove prohibited content, with penalties issued throughout the year remaining unpaid. Roskomnadzor now seeks to fine Google between 5-20% of their total Russian turnover.
