United States of America: Adopted NYAG Report on Next Decade of Artificial Intelligence focusing on fostering opportunities while regulating risks

On 5 August 2024, the Attorney General of New York issued the Report on the Next Decade of Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on fostering opportunities while regulating risks. The report covers the impact of AI on healthcare, information services, and administrative tasks, highlighting generative AI's potential to improve medical imaging, streamline administrative tasks, and aid in better access to information. The report also stressed the concerns raised about data privacy, misinformation, algorithmic bias, and monopolisation of data. The report highlighted that the office of the Attorney General will continue to develop strategies based on the findings, including exploring algorithmic auditing standards, watermarking frameworks, and regulatory approaches, and will monitor legislative and regulatory developments to ensure effective oversight of generative AI technology.
