Closed consultation on draft illegal harms codes of practice and guidance on online content on animal cruelty and human torture under the Online Safety Act

On 13 September 2024, Ofcom closed its consultation on strengthening its draft illegal harms codes of practice and guidance under the Online Safety Act, by specifying animal cruelty and human torture as types of content that platforms must address. In particular, Ofcom is proposing to add illegal animal and human torture content to its codes and guidance to ensure that providers remove this kind of harmful content.
