Filed Columbia Attorney General lawsuit against StubHub for deceptive pricing and junk fees

On 31 July 2024, the Attorney General for the District of Columbia filed a lawsuit against StubHub, an online ticket exchange and resale platform, over the company’s alleged unfair and deceptive practices concerning hidden prices and junk fees. StubHub is accused of advertising artificially low price on tickets and charging a substantially higher price at the end of the lengthy checkout process due to cryptic hidden service fees (drip pricing system). StubHub’s practices would interfere with consumers’ ability to compare prices and to make informed decisions about their ticket purchases.
