Adopted national AI strategy and action plan (2022 – 2027)

On 26 July 2022, the Prime Minister's Cabinet approved Thailand's national AI strategy and action plan (2022-2027), aimed at establishing the essential infrastructure for AI development to promote economic growth and enhance the country's competitiveness. The strategy includes five core strategies and 15 work plans to create a robust AI ecosystem. The first strategy focuses on preparing Thailand's readiness in social, ethics, law, and regulation for AI applications. The second strategy aims to develop infrastructure for sustainable AI development. The third strategy seeks to increase human capability and improve AI education by developing over 30,000 AI talents within six years. The fourth strategy involves driving AI technology and innovation development. The wide adoption of AI research, development, and innovation is expected to create a business and social impact of at least 48 billion Baht by 2027. This includes applying AI technology and innovation in strategic sectors and developing core AI technologies and platforms. The fifth strategy promotes the use of AI in public and private sectors. This strategy seeks to increase the number of agencies using AI innovations to at least 600 within six years, thereby enhancing Thailand's AI competitiveness. It involves promoting AI use in government sectors, key industries, and developing mechanisms and sandboxes for business innovation and AI startups.
