On 20 June 2024, the Bill amending the Penal Code of Brazil to establish increased penalties for sexual exploitation crimes involving artificial intelligence was introduced at the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil. The Bill aims to address crimes involving the facilitation of prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation of children or adolescents using artificial intelligence or similar technologies. The Bill increases the penalty of for such crimes by a further half if they are committed using such technologies to manipulate videos to create false representations of minors or other vulnerable individuals.
