On 3 July 2024, the Bill amending Law No. 9.610 on Copyright including clarification on natural person authorship in the context of artificial intelligence systems was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil. The Bill targets creators of literary, artistic, or scientific works, amending existing copyright law to clarify that the author of a work must be a natural person, irrespective of the degree of autonomy of artificial intelligence (AI) systems used in creating the work.
