On 11 July 2024, the Bill on Digital Identity addressing digital identity crimes was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Bill addresses unauthorised dissemination of intimate images, digital harassment, and identity impersonation. The Bill also introduces penalties ranging from six months to two years for such offences, with aggravated punishments for crimes involving, for example, minors, women, or the use of false identities. The Bill also amends the existing Penal Code of Argentina on the articles related to intimidation and coercion by extending their scope to include digital threats and extortion.
