European Union: Announced EU Commission investigation into Delivery Hero and Globo regarding alleged anticompetitive agreements in the online food delivery sector

Description

Announced EU Commission investigation into Delivery Hero and Globo regarding alleged anticompetitive agreements in the online food delivery sector

On 23 July 2023, the European Commission announced it was opening an investigation into Delivery Hero and Globo, two of the largest online food delivery companies in Europe, regarding anticompetitive agreements and concerted practices. The Commission is examining whether before Delivery Hero acquired sole control of Glovo in July 2022, the companies allocated geographic markets, shared commercially sensitive information, and agreed not to poach each other’s employees. Between July 2018 and July 2022, Delivery Hero held a minority share in Glovo, which may have facilitated the alleged concerted practices.
