Announced MDES information on court orders to shutdown and remove 50 URLs containing illegal content

On 6 January 2022, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) announced that the court had ordered the shutdown and removal of 50 URLs containing illegal content in the first week of 2022. The MDES stated that between 27 December 2021 and 2 January 2022, actions were taken against 19 URLs under the Computer-Related Crime Act, including 11 on Facebook, 6 on YouTube, and 2 on Twitter. During this period, the court issued two orders to block and remove 50 URLs related to national security. Furthermore, Ms Nopawan urged the public to be cautious and thoroughly consider the information they encounter on social media and stated that posting or sharing false information is a legal offence, and the ministry is closely monitoring both domestic and international situations daily to combat fake news and illegal content effectively.
