Announced MDES confirmation on removal of 1,276 URLs of illegal content by social media platforms following court orders

On 26 August 2020, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) confirmed the removal of 1,276 URLs of illegal content by social media platforms following court orders. In addition, 1,024 new notifications have been sent to platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and other websites, to block further illegal content. The MDES emphasises that this process is non-discriminatory and follows legal procedures. Furthermore, Minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta stated that previous notifications sent on 10 August 2020, resulted in full compliance by platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. The actions are based on the Computer-Related Crime Act B.E. 2550 (2007) and its amendments, and there is no intimidation or harassment involved.
