Description

Implemented Law 2022-300 aimed at strengthening parental control over the means of access to the internet including service access restrictions

On 13 July 2024, Law 2022-300, aimed at strengthening parental control over the means of access to the Internet, including service access restrictions, was implemented following the adoption of Government Decree No. 2023-588, which repealed the Government Decree. In particular, the law requires manufacturers of devices with internet access that potentially allow access to content that is harmful to minors to include parental control options in their products. Specifically, manufacturers must ensure that when placing a device on the market, the operating system installed on the device includes parental control options. Furthermore, the supplier of the operating system is required to certify that the system complies with the Law. Finally, the manufacturer must certify compliance with the law for importers, fulfilment service providers, and distributors.
