Description

Issued ruling in Trade Competition Commission investigation into Company A Co., Ltd. over abuse of market power in setting ticketing fees for cinemas via online channels and ticketing kiosks

On 22 February 2024, the Trade Competition Commission (TCC) issued a ruling following its investigation into Company A, finding the company guilty of the abuse of its market dominance in the distribution of tickets through online channels. Company A, holding a significant market share in the industry, did so without consent from film producers or distributors supplying films to its cinemas. This unilateral action was deemed unfair under the Trade Competition Act B.E. 2560, Sections 57 (2), 82, and 84. The Commission held both Company A and its business planning department manager responsible for these violations, emphasising the importance of fair competition practices and notifying stakeholders in advance of fee adjustments.
