On 10 June 2024, Bill 3003-D-2024, establishing a legal framework for the regulation of the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Bill applies to individuals and entities involved in providing, deploying, importing, distributing, manufacturing, and using AI systems within Argentina. The National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) is designated as the enforcing authority. The Bill stipulates fines, suspension or cancellation of authorisation, and prohibition of AI system use for non-compliance. Affected individuals have the right to seek judicial compensation for damages caused by AI misuse. Additionally, the Bill establishes an AI Advisory Council tasked with evaluating AI projects' impacts on human rights. The Council's responsibilities include project review, ethical analysis, public participation, advisory roles, reporting, and education. The Bill takes effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
