Republic of Korea: Signed MOIS, NFS, and KETI memorandum of understanding on combating new deepfake crimes through advanced video analysis

On 9 July 2024, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), the National Forensic Service (NFS), and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on combating new deepfake crimes through advanced video analysis. The MoU focuses on forensic science and advanced technology sectors, specifically targeting artificial intelligence (AI) based video and audio analysis technologies. The MoU provides for cooperation in the research and development of new technologies in forensic science and aims to enhance criminal investigations and support the development of AI and image-processing technologies.
