Issued FAS ruling imposing a fine against Yandex for violating the ban on advertising services for writing final qualification papers

On 14 June 2024, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) issued its ruling imposing a fine against Yandex for violating the ban on advertising services for writing final qualification papers. The investigation was initiated after a citizen had complained about an advertisement from the organisation "Work 5," which offered services for writing essays, term papers, and theses and was displayed on the Yandex search engine. Advertising such services for state scientific certification or exams in educational institutions is prohibited by law. FAS deemed the advertisement improper and fined Yandex in accordance with the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
