Saudi Arabia: Opened consultation on Amendment of the Executive Regulations of the Audiovisual Media System

On 14 August 2023, the Saudi Arabian General Authority of Media Regulation opened its consultation on the Amendment of the Executive Regulations of the Audiovisual Media System. The consultation closes on 13 September 2023. The amendments establish further types of prohibited content, applying to both professional and non-professional media. According to the amendments, content must not glorify groups opposing the country. Additionally, the media must avoid false claims, harming children or women, or revealing confidential information.
