Adopted Decree No. 27/2018/ND-CP including data localisation requirement

On 1 March 2018, the Government issued Decree No. 27/2018/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 72/2013/ND-CP. The Decree stipulates that aggregated information websites and social networks must use at least one “.vn” domain name and store information in a server with a local IP address. To apply for licenses, the location of the server system must be submitted to the authorities within the operation plan. In addition, the Ministry of Information and Communications must be notified of address changes. The decree enters into force on 15 April 2018.
