On 15 November 2015, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed the Cyberinformation Security Law. The law is applicable to Vietnamese and foreign organisations engaged in network information security activities and provides regulations on network information security activities, rights, and duties of agencies, organisations, and individuals in securing network information security. The legislation also includes principles for the import of cyberinformation security products. Any entity importing such products is required to obtain an import permit from a competent state agency. Additionally, the import process must take into account diplomatic privileges and comply with customs and international laws in order to ensure that the use of these products does not compromise national security or public order. The law will come into force on 1 July 2016.
