On 25 October 2021, the Australian government published a discussion paper on the Privacy Act 1988 reform while at the same time opening up a consultation on the matter. Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback regarding the Act’s scope and application, the effectiveness of the protections outlined as privacy principles, promotion of good privacy practices, and effectiveness of the act’s enforcement mechanisms. The consultation will run until 10 January 2022. The collected feedback will be taken into account when writing the final report regarding potential changes to the Privacy Act 1998.
