Russia: Adopted Ministry of Foreign Affairs order limiting access to 81 media resources from the EU as response to EU restrictions on Russian media

Description

Adopted Ministry of Foreign Affairs order limiting access to 81 media resources from the EU as response to EU restrictions on Russian media

On 25 June 2024, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced countermeasures in response to the EU Council's decision from May 17 to ban broadcasting by three Russian media outlets, RIA Novosti, MIC Izvestia, and Rossiyskaya Gazeta. These measures, effective June 25, restrict access from Russia to broadcasting resources of various EU member states media outlets and pan-European media operators accused of spreading false information about Russia's “military operations”. The Ministry stated that such bans on Russian media by the EU were politically motivated and unjustified. Russia's restrictions will remain until the EU lifts its bans. The list includes European media outlets such as Agence Europe, Politico, the Satellite package "Svoboda Satellite Package", and the internet publication “Euobserver".
