On 30 May 2022, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code 2022 entered into force including content moderation authority governance. The Code is applicable to any content published in the content industry and to all Content Application Service Providers, but compliance is voluntary. The Code establishes the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia as the responsible body for the administration and sanctioning of breaches of the Code. The Content Forum, through its Complaints Bureau, has the authority to receive and adjudicate complaints related to alleged breaches of the Code.
