Implemented Communications and Multimedia Content Code 2022 including content moderation regulation

On 30 May 2022, the Communications and Multimedia Content Code 2022 entered into force including content moderation regulation. The Code applies to any content published in the content industry and to all content application service providers, but compliance is voluntary. The Code prescribes that any indecent, obscene, false, menacing or offensive content should be avoided. Specifically, the Code prohibits any discriminatory material or comments related to race, ethnicity, religion, sex or others. The Code further aims to respect the fundamental rights and freedoms of every person with respect to any content published online or through any other distribution medium. The Code emphasises that despite the regulation, no censorship on the Internet shall be conducted.
